These Upside Down Apple Pastries with Cosmic Crisp® Apples are easy to whip up for a delicious sweet snack, or top with cream and ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (fan-forced). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Prepare the Apples
Thinly slice the Cosmic Crisp apples.
Cut the pastry
Cut the pastry sheet into quarters.
Arrange the Apples
Working in blocks about the same size as the pastry quarters, spread a thin layer of honey on the parchment paper in the shape of four rectangles.
Arrange the apple slices evenly on top of the honey rectangles, slightly overlapping.
Drizzle over a little more honey and sprinkle with thyme leaves.
Place the Pastry
Lay the puff pastry sheets on top of the four honey-apple rectangles.
Gently press down the edges with a fork to seal.
Egg Wash
Brush the top of the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake
Bake for 20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and cooked through.
Rest and Flip
Let the pastries rest for 15 minutes.
Carefully flip to reveal the caramelised apples.
Serve
Serve as-is for a delicious snack, or top with vanilla ice cream, cream or Greek yoghurt for a quick and easy dessert.
